What are the effects of interventions to help patients adhere to medications for glaucoma?
This review identified risk factors for medication non-adherence in people with glaucoma, examined the relationship between treatment non-adherence and clinical outcomes, and assessed the effectiveness of interventions to improve adherence. Specific interventions included practical aids such as reminder devices (memory aids and alarms), counseling on medication use and education and training to effectively follow medication regimens. Follow-up was up to 6 months. We focus here on studies evaluating intervention effectiveness in terms of medication adherence and related outcomes.
