What are the Effects of Crack Addiction?
Crack affects the brain and the body both in the short-term and the long-term. When inhaled, crack is immediately absorbed into the bloodstream and feel the bulk of the euphoric psychotropic effects, or the “high,” within one minute and the physical effects within two minutes. Feelings of low anxiety, low appetite, higher energy and a sense of contentment last for about 30 minutes. In the long-term, crack users experience paranoia, extreme anxiety, panic and exhibit compulsive behavior, impaired judgment and hyper vigilance. Intense mood changes at the drop of a hat and irritation and agitation are common among crack addicts.
