What are the effects caused by a tsunami?

0

A tsunami is a wave, caused by a large offshore land displacement. It might only be a few feet high, like the Indian Ocean tsunami, but it has so much more force than a normal wave. The videos from places like Thailand showed the waves climbing the beach, and moving a long way inland. In some cases it came in close to half a mile, knocking people down and injuring them with debris. Then the water receded, taking the debris and people out to sea, where many of the people drowned. About 1/4 of a million people died that day from tsunamis.
