What are the effect of language delay on development?
I teach a class of students with significant language delay and disorder and have specialised in this area (in Australia). With effective intervention children can make wonderful gains. This will not happen by accident and will require a concerted effective from the school / preschool, family and service providers. If this does not occur language delay effects many areas of development including reading, writing, and other areas of school as language is how we both learn and show knowledge. It also effects socialising, behavior and attention. I am unsure if you are asking for interest or about a particular child. If you are concerned about a child I would encourage you to seek intervention.
