What are the educational options for my child?
From birth to age 21, or when the child graduates from high school—whichever comes first—a child with autism in the United States is guaranteed a free and appropriate education in the public schools. Together, you and your child’s school will develop an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) for your child. An IEP serves as an agreement between the school and the child’s family on the child’s educational goals and the resources needed to achieve these goals.
