• To provide an opportunity for understanding those parts of the human body that can be recognized and identified with the unaided human eye. • To promote an understanding of the general arrangement and functions of the various organ systems by dissection and study of the adult human body. • To enhance recognition of the range of normal variation in gross anatomical structure. • To stimulate learning of the important aspects of regional and topographical anatomy of the human body, thereby laying the basis for surgery and the physical exam. • To establish a succinct and accurate anatomical vocabulary based on Nomina Anatomica. • To develop skills in oral description and demonstration of anatomical material that will provide the basis for skills in clinical presentations. • To promote thoughtful reflection on the issues of death and dying, and to emphasize the importance of showing respect for patients and their families • To develop skills in researching medical literature and applying
