The assistant director would need to meet the same requirements as a director. The following requirement applies to child care facilities under the auspices of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services: The minimum requirements for a director of a licensed child care center are two years of college with 18 semester hours in Early Childhood Education (courses which deal with child care or development from birth to age six).
