What are the duties in merchandising/pricing?
A Merchandiser is usually hired to help maintain the product well placed at the retailers that sell the product. For example, if the company sell soups, a merchandiser would go to assigned suppermarkets, replenish shelf space with company products, “face” the cans (facing = brand looking forward), etc. For other industries I would expect similar duties, and it may include the handling of the tags. Generally, a Merchandiser is an extension of Distribution, sometimes with limited sales ordering functions (repeat sales order getting). Sales is a communication strategy, as established by the marketing plan, that involves personal communications. This is opposed to advertising, which is impersonal. In both cases, communication goals is to influence buyer behavior and generate transactions. Sales support… I am not sure. I can’t recall this from Marketing literature. I supposed they refer to staff personnel that helps the sales force.
