What are the driving regulations to be followed during snow-clearing operations?
It is prohibited to overtake gritters which are in action. This is not specific to motorways, but actually part of the French highway code. Our snow ploughs start off along a road that has yet to be cleared – that is why they cannot be made to go any faster. Vehicles which overtake gritters are likely to skid across the surface and block the motorway.
