First off determine which fish species your planning on keeping in this plant tank. There are alot of species out their that would find a planted tank much like a buffet table. So with this in mind choose the species that are compatable together and for your tank size. Do your research on plant species, some are avalible at petstore, others might have to be ordered online. Plants are much like outdoor plants in that some need high light source, some meduium and some low light. So depending on what type of lights you have on your aquarium will determine this.If all you have is your basic fluresent bulb, you can upgrade to a floral light very easy. This will give you many options of plants. Also color of gravel is important due to dark gravel absorbes light and light gravel reflects light, so white or natural river stones would be preferable.
