What are the dogs that look like wolves?
The dogs that are most well known in the USA that some people think look like wolves are: Husky, Malamute, German Shepherd and Akita. If you want to gander at a few that are much more “wolfish”, (and more common in Europe) then go to akc.org and check out these: Czechoslovakian Wolfdog Portuguese Podengo Belgian Malinois Anatolian Shepherd (Dog) and Norwegian Buhund Though there are others of smaller stature (like the Chow Chow), they could not be “mistaken” for a wolf.
Saarloos Wolfhound. These dogs are more closely related to wolves than other dog breeds but they are great dogs. They are great with children and other dogs and are soooo loving and loyal. Just be careful if you ever have it off the leash or out unsupervised. They are very often mistaken as wolves and people have been known to freak out because they think they are going to be attacked by a wolf.
