What are the disadvantages of giving someone life advice?

0

Several disadvantages–one being that they may not take kindly to your advice, thinking that you’re being judgmental. When, in fact, you’re not being judgmental, you’re merely trying to help the other person make the right decisions. In addition, another problem with giving advice is that it can sometimes be detrimental to the other person because you may NOT have ALL the facts. There’s something to be said about life experiences. On the other hand, there’s no law that says that you can’t give someone else advice; although, it’s usually better if they’re asking as opposed to you merely offering it. Bottom line: Giving advice is best when asked; unless, it’s a life or death situation, then of course, you need to give someone else sound advice and if you can’t, then find a profesional therapist, or another person, who is equipped to help that person.
