MDF is good and easy to work with. However, it is made of glue and saw dust. Infact lots of glue. The glue contains formaldehyde which is toxic, and can be very toxic and result in multiple chemical sensitivities for somr people, as occurred with my wife over several years of my renovations. I personally cannot tolerate the stuff, especially the saw dust either.
