The Inmarsat C system can be used for sending different types of store-and-forward messages in ship-to-shore, shore-to-ship and ship-to-ship direction including: Email messages Ship-to-shore: All Inmarsat C and Mini C terminals can be used to send messages to any internet email address. Ship-to-shore and mobile terminals do not require any software or firmware change or upgrade. The service does not require any additional registration or subscription. Shore-to-ship: Email messages can also be sent from a computer, connected to the internet, to any Inmarsat C or Mini C terminal. However, a shore-based message originator needs to register with an Inmarsat C land earth station operator (LESO) or a service provider. Once you have a subscription you will be given the access procedure and instructions how to send a message to an Inmarsat C or Mini C terminal.
