What are the different types of vehicle suspensions available for motorvehicles?
Strut suspensions are common because they are simple and cheap to engineer and take up little volume. Multi-link independent suspenions offer more precise wheel control but are complicated, expensive and consume more volume. Semi-trailing arm rear suspensions are a simpler alternative but don’t offer as precise control over wheel movement. Solid axles with leaf springs are the simplest mechanical device known to man. Solid axles with coil springs offer better ride and control at the cost of increased complexity.
