What are the different types of speech prompters?
• Presidential (executive) prompters are used for live speeches when the speaker is standing at a podium. Two sheets of specially treated glass are placed on poles (typically near the outer corners of a lectern) and reflect between six and nine lines of text that are projected from monitors below. The speaker sees the large, readable type, but the audience does not. • Floor prompters are used whenever the speaker wants to move around on stage. Large video monitors are usually placed in front of the audience. What’s the set-up time? That depends on the type of shoot and the type of teleprompter. For a live speech, we prefer a minimum of an hour to set up. A live speech requires more equipment and many adjustments. A freestanding prompter takes 15-25 minutes to install, depending on the complexity and layout of the set. A camera-mounted prompter takes a little longer than that.
