What are the different types of Nootropics?
There are many different types of nootropics, they can be assigned to two groups, these are pharmaceutical, and naturally occurring nootropics; those found in food and herbal preparations. Certain amino acids and vitamins can be classified as having nootropic qualities, L-Tyrosine and vitamins B1, B6 respectively are good examples, yet this is not an exhaustive list. So, how do nootropics interact with the brain to aid, repair, support and enhance function? To fully understand how nootropics could aid training, competition and recovery in speed-strength sports, we need to understand the basic structures of the brain and the role of some of the neurotransmitters (chemical messengers that help the brain communicate). We don’t need to review every structure and workings of the brain but just enough to understand how to utilise nootropics for speed-strength sports.
