What are the different types of Man Made Disasters?
Some man made disasters were caused by sabotage, like the Dupont chemical leak in Bhopal, India. Some are caused by insufficient or faulty safety procedures like the Chernobyl meltdown. Some are caused by a misunderstanding or insufficient engineering knowledge, like dams breaking or the collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Some are caused by builders deliberately ignoring the engineering specs to save some money. Some are caused when financial or political pressures trump safety, like the Challenger disaster. Some are caused by poor communication among the building trades, like the walkway collapse in Kansas City. Some are caused by faulty building materials that were not up to the required specs but were misrepresented to the manufacturers, like the Sioux City airline crash. Some man made disasters were caused by innocent mistakes. Some were caused by greed and laziness.
