What are the different types of leasing contracts in Shanghai?
There are two types, primarily: Long-term (>6 months) and short-term (<6 months) leasing contracts in Shanghai. Most owners sign a 1-year leasing contract. It is possible to have short term leasing contracts but it depends on the owner and the terms are usually different: Rents are more expensive and sometimes owners will ask tenants to pay everything upfront for contracts that are less than 6 months term.
