What are the Different Types of Laser Surgery for Birthmarks?
Birthmarks are a common reason for laser treatment. Since lasers can effectively correct both color and texture problems, the removal of unwanted birthmarks is not only possible, but can be achieved by a number of different types of laser technology and techniques. Intense Pulsed Light Laser Treatment Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment is widely used for cosmetic correction. Highly-concentrated and energy-filled lasers channel through the outer skin layers to the unwanted cells beneath. These cells are destroyed and the surrounding tissue is left undamaged. Cell regeneration is stimulated. IPL is used for laser resurfacing, also called photorejuvenation and photo facial treatment. Skin discoloration is a common condition of IPL patients, but the lasers’ gentler, versatile application and “lighter” intensity may require multiple sessions to remove a birthmark. This depends on the birthmark’s depth and hue.
