What are the different types of full-body scanners?
There are two different types of full-body scanners:
1) Millimeter wave scanners – extremely high frequency radio waves are processed by a computer to produce detailed 3D images of air passengers.
2) Backscatter scanners – high energy rays scatter when they hit materials allowing the detection of explosives and plastic weapons.
Both scanners have the ability to strip away layers of clothing and accurately map the shape of the body to detect for security violations.
