What Are the Different Types of Endangered Fish?
Many types of wildlife are endangered. Fish are not an exception and the problem of dwindling fish populations is not limited to any particular place. Examples of endangered fish are found around the globe, such as the smalltooth sawfish in the United States (US) and the Mekong giant stingray in Thailand. The Alabama cavefish has been listed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service as endangered since 1988. This species is believed to be limited to the state of Alabama and more specifically to Key Cave in Key Cave National Refuge. The fish has no eyes and is almost transparent. It has been observed that the fish do not generally reproduce annually and that females lay only small numbers of eggs.
