What Are the Different Types of Dressings Used in a First Aid Kit?
“Hi my name is Chip and I am a paramedic instructor with the state of North Carolina, and today we are going to talk about the different types of dressing and bandages that are found in a first-aid kit. The word bandage and the word dressing can be used interchangeably however in the medical field they are not, for our purposes we will kind of use them together. We look at dressings, this is a dressing this is a large pad it is absorbent it is used to be assist in stopping bleeding, it is very very thick very heavy so this would be for some kind of a major wound with a lot of bleeding going on. Usually your typical wound is going to be smaller, much less bleeding we hope, and with that you have these smaller versions this is a four inch by four inch several ply, it is woven material, you can fold it several different ways or you can leave it flat depending on how big the wound side is, simply apply it as such, and there is even smaller versions as well.
