What are the different types of display technologies?
There are several types of display technologies, we will cover only what is currently on the major TV market, here is a very brief and basic explanation of what each is and how it can be used. For more info on how these may work in your room, give us a call. CRT – Used in original TV’s and projectors – used phosphorus and high voltage to create a picture – considered best for overall picture quality, but limited in size due to the limitation of the glass properties and its weight. PLASMA – Used in flat panel TV’s only – very similar to the original CRT TV’s – creates a picture very close to CRT, works well in bright rooms, but suffers from easy image burn-in and produces a lot of heat, power hungry. LCD – Used for all types of displays: Flat panel, projection, other – Liquid Crystal Display panel with back lighting, works well in most scenarios, image quality can be effected by bright light, low burn-in rate, uses fluorescent tubes for lighting and produces much less heat than plasma.
