What are the different types of dental bridges?
There are several different types of dental bridges: A fixed partial denture. This type bridges the gap left from missing teeth with artificial teeth. It can be made of gold, alloys, or porcelain. It can only be removed by a dental professional.1 Removable bridge. This type of bridge can be removed by the patient to clean.1 Implant bridge. This type of bridge attaches artificial teeth under the gum tissue or into the jaw.1 If you have a dental bridge, proper dental care is important. Generally, the difference between proper and improper oral hygiene is what determines the success of the dental bridge.1 1 “Bridges.” American Dental Association. www.ada.org/2954.aspx?currentTab=1 Accessed 2010.
