- Bhakti yoga: No set positions for performing; relative to the individual. Emphasis on the presence of God during the yoga.
- Gnana (Jnana) yoga: Reality vs. non-reality. Emphasis on the calmness and tranquility.
- Hatha yoga: Holding asanas (yoga poses) is the main focus; having control of mind and body.
- Karma yoga: This is the yoga that focuses on selflessness and courage.
- Kundalini yoga: Emphasis on the chakras of the body and the energy of the physical body to become centered around the central, vital force.
- Mantra yoga: Reciting mantras for increased spiritual connection and self-awareness. Best to do in the early morning.
- Raja (Astanga) yoga: Emphasis on the power of the mind through meditation and the eight-fold path.
- Purna yoga: Emphasis on poses and moving the body in a way that connects it with the divine of the universe.
