What are the different styles of the Mayan hammocks?
The Classic Mayan hammock is woven of cotton hammock cord produced in the hot humid Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. This cord produces a very strong and extremely comfortable hammock. Although the hammock can hold great weight, the individual strings are subject to breakage when snagged on buttons or belts etc. The Deluxe Mayan hammock is woven from 24 gauge cotton cording, also made in the Yucatan, which is about six times thicker and stronger. This cording produces a hammock that is stronger, more resistant to breakage and softer in feel. Because it is more loosely woven it is less supportive for use as a bed, but great for recreational use and use by the whole family. We have recently introduced the Tommy Hamaca line of hammocks, which is a thin string Classic Mayan style of hammock woven of OSO mercerized cotton cording.
