What are the different palaces, castles around London and why are there different ones?
The castles were built at different times to house different powerful families. Or different branches of the same powerful family. Some castles are now owned by the government. In the really early times, they were defensible. When I stayed in London for three months, I loved going to Alexandra’s Castle, now a public venue for art shows and the like. I loved imaging living there. It was in the northern part of London, walking distance from Muswell Hill.
