If you decide to study architecture at the post-secondary level, you are getting the preparation you need for a number of jobs in architecture. You could choose to work in an architectural firm, but that’s not the only career option available. Other jobs that are available to people with a degree in architecture include those of project manager, facilities manager, or urban planner. The first step in preparing for any of the available jobs in architecture is to complete a degree program at a college or university. The curriculum will include courses in design, the history of architecture, and environmental systems. To become a fully-accredited architect, you will need to complete a minimum of five years of coursework, as well as an additional three years of work as an intern.
