What are the different belt rankings in jiu-jitsu?

In traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the belts begin with white to blue to purple to brown and then to black. In our school, we follow the belt ranking of Mr. Klay Pittman, my master, that begin with white to yellow to orange to green to blue to purple to purple/black stripe to brown to brown/black stripe to red to red/black stripe and then finally black. He developed that method of ranking in order to allow the student to see a progression of ranking that rewards the students more visually than the standard ranking system.
