What are the different assignments of Frontiers Editors?
While covering these key roles of the entire Frontiers structure, Frontiers editors and authors are presented with the following rights, obligations and responsibilities. The Field Chief Editor is: • Responsible for appointing specialty chief editors and entitled to recommend appointing of associate editors to specialty chief editors; • Responsible for overseeing the article selection process that leads to tier climbing; • Responsible for enforcing the Frontiers high standards among editors and authors. The Specialty Chief Editor is: • Responsible for appointing associate editors and entitled to recommend the appointment of review editors to associate editors; • Responsible for rejecting articles; • Required to take action against heavy delays in reviews, and to mediate between authors and review editors in case the associate editor is unable to resolve a conflict.
