What are the differences between the U.S. and Canadian Diabetes Conversation Maps?
The U.S. Diabetes Conversation Map tools were made in collaboration with the American Diabetes Association, while the Canadian Conversation Map tools were made in collaboration with the Canadian Diabetes Association. The clinical guidelines of these two organizations are somewhat different and therefore the Diabetes Conversation Map tools for each country align with their respective standards. One of the major differences is the amount of information included in each Conversation Map visual and accompanying materials. The U.S. Diabetes Conversation Map tools are designed to be very patient-directed. That is, they introduce a concept and participants are able to discuss that concept in a very open way – asking the questions about the specific things they are most interested in learning more about. The Canadian Diabetes Conversation Maps are very specific and directed as it relates to the content.
