The first book, Monitoring the Health Care Safety NetBook I: A Data Book for Metropolitan Areas, presents data from 90 metropolitan areas, including 354 counties and 171 cities in those areas. The second volume, Monitoring the Health Care Safety NetBook II: A Data Book for States and Counties, shows data from all 1,818 counties in these States, including both metropolitan and nonmetropolitan counties. The companion book, Monitoring the Health Care Safety NetBook III: Tools for Monitoring the Health Care Safety Net, offers strategies and concrete tools for assessing local health care safety nets.
