What are the differences between the Multimedia Workshop and the Tech Tools Workshop?
The purpose of the Multimedia Workshop is to train journalists to tell stories for the new medium of the Internet. The purpose of the Technology Tools Workshop is to train journalists to use new and cutting edge technologies in all aspects of reporting and delivering news across multiple delivery channels. The Multimedia Workshop is a 5 1/2 day training that provides in-depth instruction on the hardware and software and storytelling techniques used to deliver a complete multimedia package. Fellows are trained in using video cameras, audio recorders, digital still cameras, understanding what kinds of stories are best told in video, audio, photos, text or graphics, and learning techniques for shooting better photos and video and recording high quality audio. After a field reporting exercise using the new hardware, workshop Fellows are trained to edit the material using Soundslides, Soundtrack Pro, Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro, as well as script writing and techniques for better storytell
