What are the differences between the federal specifications CCC-W-408A & D, ASTM F793, and CFFAW-101D?
The most current specification for vinyl wallcoverings is CCC-W-408D. The earlier version, CC-W-408A, is similar to the D specification, except that it still contains a minimum weight for each type of wallcovering. Most major manufactures still produce their vinyl wallcoverings to the weight requirements listed in the A specification and most specifiers still require product that meet the weight requirements in the A specification. ASTM F793 is as standard classification of wallcoverings by durability characteristics, which covers all wallcovering s, including vinyl. It includes six different categories ranging from category I (decorative only) to Category VI Type II (commercial serviceability). Categories IV, V, and, VI are the same as Type I, II, and III wallcoverings, respectively.
