What are the differences between the different grades of Palm Olein?
Palm Olein of PORAM specifications conforms to the minimum standard set by the Palm Oil Industry. This grade of Olein is commonly used by the industry sectors where the olein will be utilized as part of a list of ingredients whereby visual presentation of the oil in liquid form is not considered – packed in Jerry Cans, drums etc. For liquid cooking oil packed in clear PET bottles, PORAM specifications tend to turn cloudy on the supermarket shelves when it is subjected to cooler temperatures. As such, liquid cooking oils in such packing are of Packers’ Olein (Cloud Point 8) or Super Olein (IV60). There is a price difference between the 3 established grades of Palm Olein, being the increased in processing cost from PORAM specifications to Packer’s Olein (Cloud Point 8), about USDlrs 10.00 per metric ton and about USDlrs 45.00 per metric ton for Super Olein.
