The Church of England developed from the English Reformation of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The worship of the Church of England spread with English settlers throughout the world. Therefore there are Anglican denominations worldwide. In the United States the Episcopal Church USA (also known by the abbreviation TEC) is the Anglican denomination recognized by the Archbishop of Canterbury (the head of the Church of England).
