What are the differences between the aforementioned interpreting services (consecutive and simultaneous)?
A. In simultaneous interpreting, an interpreter renders spoken language into the target language at the same time as the person speaks the spoken language. It is in effect, “real-time” interpreting. In onsecutive interpreting, the interpreter renders the spoken language into the target language after the speaker has finished talking. It is in effect, “segmented” or “divided” interpreting. Simultaneous translating is considered to be the harder of the two and usually involves two interpreters, possibly in a sound booth, and special equipment.
