What are the differences between plant and animal and bacteria cells? What are the similarities?
One of the most important differences is that animal and plant cells are eukaryotic, meaning that they have a nucleus. Bacterial cells are prokaryotic, they have no nucleus and the genetic information is free floating in the cytoplasm. All three types of cells have mitochondria, organelles that regulate energy production. Plant cells also have chloroplasts, which are involved in photosynthesis. Animal cells do not have chloroplasts, but some bacteria do. Also, plant cells have a rigid cell wall surrounding the cell, which provides structural stability. Again, animal cells do not have cell walls but some bacteria do. There are also different types of bacterial cells, based on thier shape and cell membrane constituents, but basically, bacterial cells are more primitive than either animal or plant cells and likely underwent changes that ultimately produced animal and plant cells. There are many more subtle differences, but i have given you some important ones.
