What are the differences between PET Homopolymer and PET Copolymer?
• PET Homopolymer has a melting point of around 255oC whereas the melting point of Copolymer is around 245oC. • PET Homopolymer has faster rate of crystallisation unlike Copolymer, which exhibits slow rate of crystallisation. • PET Copolymer has better hydrolytic and environmental stress crack resistance, particularly under high humid and tropical conditions. Besides the above desirable characteristics, PET Copolymer offers the following advantages during moulding: • Lower processing temperatures/faster cycle times/low AA (acetaldehyde) generation. • Easier to derive transparency. • Broader blowing window.
