What are the differences between living in Montreal or Vancouver?
The Winter Olympics will be in Vancouver in February. It will not be the best time to go. Check those dates. Both are large, interesting, cosmopolitan cities in Canada with lots of fun things to do… and that’s about it for similarities. So there are many, many differences. Here are a few: Montreal is a French-speaking city. (Some tourists find it unpleasant when some Montrealers will not answer them if they ask their question in English.) Vancouver is English-speaking. Montreal is very cold in February, with temps well below freezing and it can be snowy and icy. Vancouver has a mild winter, being moderated by the Pacific Ocean. There will likely be a majority of days with temps slightly below freezing, but some days will be balmy. In Feb., Vancouver is likely to have rain or wet snow that melts soon after.
