What are the differences between Lightjet and Vutek prints?
The Lightjet is a digital photographic enlarger that uses Red, Green, & Blue laser light to expose light sensitive papers and display films. When developed through traditional RA4 chemistry the result is a “photographic” print. The Lightjet uses either 200 or 300 exposure lines per inch to generate a “continuous tone” image – as each line blends into the next line there are no visible print lines – in traditional print terms the Lightjet prints at an equivalent to a 4,000 line ruling screen. In simple terms the print is essentially perfect. Lightjet prints are designed for indoor use – they are not weatherproof without a protective laminate. The maximum single piece print is around 1260mm x 3000mm; maximum paper width is 1270mm but some allowance has to be made for media drift during loading. The Lightjet can only print to a limited variety of media such as Gloss and Matte photographic papers; SuperGloss Polyester film; Colour Metalic paper; and clear and opaque display transparency fi
