What are the differences between IV Sedation and General Anesthesia?
IV Sedation greatly reduces a patient’s feelings of anxiety, and causes tremendous relaxation. The patient is still aware of what is taking place, and is able to communicate with the medical staff. General Anesthesia will cause the patient to be completely asleep and unaware of what is taking place during the procedure. Patients will only have to be asleep for the duration of the procedure, and can expect to be fully awake within minutes after completion. If a patient elects to have IV Sedation or General Anesthesia, she must be accompanied by one adult to drive her home.
