What are the differences between, gold, diamond, and CZ carats?
Gold karats refer to the percentage of pure gold in an item, specifically: 24k gold = pure gold 18k gold = 75% gold, usually alloyed with a base metal such as copper or nickel 14k gold = 58.5% gold, usually alloyed with a base metal such as copper or nickel Many people seem to refer to gold karats as being spelled with a ‘K’, and diamond/CZ carats as being spelled with a ‘C’. Diamond carats are a measurement of the weight of the stone, where: 1 carat = 1/5 of a gram. Cubic zirconia don’t weigh the same as diamonds, but people usually consider carat as an indication of size, not weight. So, if we carry a product with a CZ that is 2 carats, it basically means that the stone is the same size (length, width, height) as a diamond of that carat weight.
