What are the differences between GKR’s Goju and Shotokan katas?
In general the Shotokan katas are explosive with lots of striking, and use linear movements, often delivered at longer range. The Goju katas are compliant and use softer, circular motions, and have far more grappling in them. They often depend upon technique and finesse rather than power. Goju katas use sumo, cat and sanchin stances. Shotokan uses horse, back and half moon stances. Both styles use forward stance.
