What are the differences between an upright bass and a bass guitar?
These two instruments are totally different! I’d say the biggest difference is that the upright bass (or double bass) is played with a bow; it can also be plucked. The bass guitar is held like a guitar and played similar to a guitar. (although bass guitars are not strumed, they are plucked with usually the fingertips) Generally you can see upright basses being played in a good sized orchestra. Whereas the bass guitar is an instrument of choice for almost any modern band.
