What are the differences between a Classic Rock and a Classic Hits radio station?

Rock is a style of music. Classic Rock refers to the type of rock that was played more than (usually) ten years ago, and can be seen as having stood the test of time. Hits are tunes that made the (depending on your definition) top 40 selling records of the time they were released, and the older ones that are still playable are considered to be Classic Hits. E.G. Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the water” is a piece of Classic Rock, while Abba’s “Waterloo” is a Classic Hit, but comes under the genre – disco or dance.
