What are the difference between the sympathetic & parasympathetic nervous system?

0

Both are part of the autonomic nervous system and so both are involuntary responses. The sympathetic nervous system is the ‘fight or flight response’ which causes increased heart muscle contraction, increased sweating, the release of glucose from the liver, which are all responses to help with quick action. The parasympathetic nervous system is the ‘rest and digest’ system, where digestion occurs, and the body is just generally in a resting state.
