What are the dietary sources of acetyl-L-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid?
The principal dietary source of acetyl-L-carnitine is red meat. The highest concentrations are found in mutton. Alpha lipoic acid is present in both plants and animals and is an integral component of the photosynthetic process of chloroplasts. Very small quantities of lipoic acid are contained in dietary sources such as spinach. Nevertheless, it is virtually impossible to meet one’s need for alpha lipoic acid through dietary intake.
