A line has been drawn in the sand, in the on going battle between communications giant, AT&T and the CWA, Communications Workers of America. Today AT&T issued a press release which stated that AT&T has made it’s “last, best and final offer” to the CWA, District 6. What is unclear at this time is what makes District 6 exceptional, as At&T has said that it will continue talks with the other four districts involved in the bargaining. From AT&T’s Press Release: “After months of negotiations, AT&T* has provided a last, best and final offer for contracts covering Core wireline employees in the Southwest Region (Communications Workers of America District 6). The district comprises the states of Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and Texas. Bargaining continues in all other regions – West (CWA District 9), East (CWA District 1), Midwest (CWA District 4) and Legacy AT&T Corp. (CWA ComTech). his report is for Thursday, May 14, 2009. The CWA & AT&T Bargaining Committee met this afternoon to discuss numerous questions pertaining to the Company’s, Last Best and Final Offer. The Union asked questions pertaining to the Success Sharing Plan, Travel, On Call Duty, Wages and other proposals. We are planning to reconvene tomorrow to continue our discussion.
